Nov 17, 2019 — Meeting on what we can do as individuals to reduce global warming

Dear Friends,

Please join us this coming Sunday from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Albuquerque Zen Center (AZC), 2300 Garfield Ave. SE. At each weekly meeting, you’re welcome to come early and join us for some herbal tea and socializing starting at 4:30 p.m.

Thay has said in his calligraphy “I am in love with Mother Earth”

Thay’s Mindfulness Trainings remind us to do our part in reducing unnecessary consumption and reversing the process of global warming.

It’s easy to feel fearful, helpless, and overwhelmed by the problem of climate change. However, there are many small, manageable steps we can take to reduce our carbon footprints and work for the health of Mother Earth. Many people are working on ways to improve the situation.

We will be practicing Engaged Buddhism as we discuss what we as individuals can do to reduce global warming. This will include practical ideas, political action suggestions, and a list of relevant articles and charities kindly assembled and provided by Myra. These will also be posted soon on this website. We hope to see you this Sunday.

Please also note that the AZC folks will be having a Samu (work practice) day on Saturday Nov. 16, as they do most Saturdays. Samu is physical form of meditation practice and includes such daily tasks as cleaning, sweeping, gardening, scrubbing floors, dusting, etc. It is an opportunity to extend and deepen one’s practice by merging with the task at hand. If you wish you can join them for coffee and bagels at 7:30 a.m. and work from 8:15-9:15 a.m.
